Virtual reality appears to be everywhere! From media to store shelves to VR booths at your trade shows or happy hour.
Maverick VR offers virtual reality events in all the major cities throughout the US and Canada and the past few months have been incredibly busy for us!
Being a lead brand ambassador I have been traveling at least once a week for the past 8 weeks, from Los Angeles to Orlando, Dallas to Boulder, and 4 different time zones in between. Not only am I helping people who have never tried or even heard of VR but I also talk to people who are very familiar with the technology and may even have their own headset at home.
But why the sudden and explosive popularity in VR booths and technology as a whole? Even with shows such as Black Mirror trying to scare us, virtual reality keeps growing in popularity.
In this article, we will look at some of the reasons why virtual reality booths are seeing a boom in popularity.
1. Kids who grew up with video games are now leading the economy
Many of our clients and their guests fit in the Generation X section. Gen X for short is roughly between 1965-1979. With Tron and Pacman coming out in the early 80's Gen X was the first generation to grow up with video games and arcades.
Maverick VR's virtual reality events offer that same arcade feel but with a modern twist. That means many of our clients and their guests get to be taken back to a simpler time. Add that with some adult drinks and you are set to have a great event!
Because the vast majority of people who experience our virtual reality station have a great time they quickly tell their friends, which keeps our brand ambassadors very busy at each event.
2. The Expansion of Video Game Culture
Gamer culture and gamers have always been stereotyped as middle-aged guys living in their mother's basement. However, modern gaming culture is sleeker and more diverse.
Today's video game culture also has a much more robust infrastructure due to platforms such as YouTube and Twitch. This has allowed certain people to have full-time careers...playing video games!
Since the vast majority of adults between the ages of 45-18 have had a video game system in their house at some period in time, this makes a virtual reality booth a natural magnet at any event or gathering.
3. People are looking for (different) experiences
It has been common knowledge that people, and millennial's in particular, are looking for new experiences to spend their time and money on.
There are plenty of events, trade shows, and happy hours that happen all the time. So what can you do to make your event stand out? An easy solution I can think of is to have someone visit the bottom of the ocean...while standing in the middle of a Las Vegas convention center! This is only possible by having a VR booth at your event.
Having a virtual reality booth present at your event is the equivalent of having an Imax experience, arcade, and themed park all rolled up into one! Thus giving your guests an unforgettable experience at your event.
Conclusion
It is not a coincidence that virtual reality booths are increasing in popularity. They offer fun, competition, imagination, and unique experience. It is very possible that VR stations become a staple at a wide range of events, like a photo booth at a wedding.
Now is a great time to check out this technology. Check out our experiences and options, and see how Maverick VR can make your next event one for the ages.
